About this project
Where our clients are undertaking works adjacent to Network Rail assets, we have provided support and advice on numerous projects where a Basic Asset Protection Agreement (BAPA) is required to be entered into by our client and Network Rail.
The process is very structured with Network Rail and requires information and supporting forms to be submitted very early in the process of pre-development activities which do not naturally align with most client’s normal procurement models and requires earlier designs, interaction with supply chain.
We have worked closely with our clients and Network Rail appointed project manager to identify the key documents including design calculations and RAMS to submit and agree with Network Rails Project Manager the associated level of independent/checking for assessment by Network Rail asset protection team we run an internally developed live tracker to give a clear indication of status Network Rail forms and associated submission dates for the forms throughout the process.
The process requires close monitoring which we undertake and provide live links to clients on submission status of the forms and associated approvals from Network Rail.
BDC are also typically the Civil and Structural Engineer for the projects supported and provide to the client temporary works design including key aspects like pile matt design and crane base designs.
